The start of an adventure

Thank you so much for visiting my website. If you have arrived here, you probably know me from The Curly Hair Project, my social enterprise that supports people on the autism spectrum. If you don’t know me from this then I’m astounded and extremely happy that I have some music fans already!
My businesses, weightlifting and my pets keep me very busy and I don’t usually take on new activities, however, I made an exception for rap music. In December 2018 I began learning how to rap.
Very quickly I discovered how technical this activity is. It’s obvious now – learning to rap is just like learning how to play a musical instrument (though with rap, your instrument is your voice).
Even though I’m a professional writer, I don’t have any experience in music; and although I’m good at writing words, writing words to music is also a very different and new skill. I have therefore had to learn everything that has brought me to where I am today… in a small space of time!
Having said all the above, I’m not a complete beginner. As a child I immersed myself in rap music and spent hours each day studying rap lyrics and learning to rap my favourite songs. It was just fun at the time but, I’m so glad I did all that, because it has probably made this learning curve now a tiny bit easier than it would have otherwise been! I was fundamentally learning and practicing something without realising I was learning and practicing.
One problem however with learning without realising, is that you often don’t go about the process in the most efficient way. Since December 2018, I have been learning in a very methodical manner, keeping things as simple as possible. As a beginner, it is very easy to get overwhelmed!
I discovered Cole Mize Studios. Cole Mize (a rapper with 20+ years of experience) is the only teacher anyone needs if they want to learn to rap. He’s amazing. Check out his YouTube channel for all the rap tutorials you need and check out his amazing coaching service as well. Learn from Cole Mize and you will learn in the most methodical, efficient and straightforward way.
I’m going to try and keep The Curly Hair Project and Alis Rowe Music separate. I would appreciate any support of Alis Rowe Music, since I am starting completely from the bottom again now! I appreciate any follows on the following platforms: SoundCloud, YouTube, Facebook
Thank you very much for reading and I will update this blog as I continue on my journey. Bear with me also, as I develop this website!
